About this event:
Chapter 8 "Virtual Small Group Supervision:
Research Informing Practice" with Dr Kathryn Downing
Join us for an interactive and fun exploration of virtual small group supervision. Supervision in virtual small groups is effective; the supervisors and coaches “learned and developed, in their own unique ways, personally and professionally through integration of inquiry, reflection, experimentation, and action” (Downing, 2021, p.15).
I will focus on three primary functions of the supervisor —the first is in creating and nurturing the bonds between group members, taking into account the multiple relationships within the group; the second is in co-creating with the group members structures and processes that are uniquely designed to meet their learning needs; and third is being a guardian of reflective practice by managing the actions and interactions that contribute to a safe and trusted space. Supervision is a co-created learning environment in which the group members’ roles and responsibilities are important and significant contributors.
